Videonystagmography,
VNG
- The VNG is the latest technology
used to distinguish peripheral disease, such as BPPV, from
CNS pathology.
- The VNG uses an infrared camera
to measure eye movements at rest and through a series of
head movements. Caloric testing is also performed.
- If the patient is diagnosed with
BPPV, we perform an Epley maneuver which is about 85% effective
in providing relief of the symptoms of BPPV.
- Emily Walker, our VGN technologist,
is a board certified member of the American Board of Balance
Medicine.
